Good but not for infrequent home usage!9/10/2011
I have been using this for a couple of years now. It does print well if used regularly. Unfortunately, for casual and infrequent use at home this may not be the best option. If you don't print at least once a month, the printer heads get clogged with the ink and dry off. However, if you are using it everyday or every week, it is a good one. Print quality is good. Settings for photo printing are not that intuitive. I wasn't able to set it up properly - always got a blue tinge on the photos. However, I believe that if you spend some time in tuning the setup you would get better results. Cartridges, are however, very costly as will all Canon printers. Also, I have heard that Canon cartridges become obsolete too soon. Mine uses PG 30 and CL 31 both of which are not available readily. So, I use the other combination, PG 40 and CL 41, which can also be used and are available. A couple of other things that I did not like: it would not print unless both the cartridges are installed and working. Which means that even if you wish to take black and white prints, you need to have the colour cartridge working. Even if I could digest that, I really got put off because you cannot even use the scanner unless both the cartridges are installed and working. Not sure, why you would need the cartridges for the scanner to work properly. Not sure how other printers work - but this was really a big dampener. I have heard HP-s are better from a maintenance standpoint. You may want to look at that alternative before you make a final decision.
Works with Linux8/1/2008
I received my Canon mp210 and successfully got it working on my Debian Linux machine with little effort. It seems to be a very good product, it does take some time for it to start printing.
Cannon Pixima MP2107/5/2008
Great vender and a great product. I bought a new printer at Walmart and found it came without the black ink. It would not work unless I bought the cartridge. That was the gimic to get the price down. I took it back and got $61.00 back and bought this one for $55.00. This is a better quality unit. I told Walmart shame on them, bit they didn't care.
Good for the price6/2/2008
Nice crisp printer.Scanner works fine. Haven't tried any photos yet. A little slow at start, but prints quickly after it thinks about it.
Does more than expected. Great printer,Ink is inexspensive from Canon. Great Photo printer even on plain paper. I was looking for a cheap printer this one far excedes being cheap. Much more than i thought.
Worked right out of the box11/29/2007
I was initially skeptical about the value given the Canon Pixma 210's low price. I was pleasantly surprised to have it print a great picture the first time. It also scanned and copied the first time without me having to learn a whole bunch of stuff to make it work. I like the compact size compared to other printers I looked at. I wanted a basis all-in-one and I got all of that and more.
Canon's next best thing8/1/2007
I was in the market shopping for a new printer when I stumbled upon this. First off, this is one of the best Canon printers for all-in-one features (copy, print, scan) at a reasonable price, under $80 to date. Recently debuted, it has great photo printing functionality, sleek white/black exterior finish, and offers ease of use. Set up and installation takes only 10 min! However, one thing that I didn't like about this printer is Canon's misleading information on the automatic sheet feeder function. Apparently, the automatic sheet feeder cannot be used to scan multiple pages of a document, even though it was listed that it can do so at Canon's main product site. Only after contacting live technical support did they mention that the automatic DOCUMENT feeder, not the automatic SHEET feeder, can be used for scanning multiple pages! Despite this shortcoming, I gave a 5 rating on overall satisfaction. If it wasn't for the automatic sheet feeder issue, I would have given perfect ratings on this printer. Nonetheless, this printer is a great buy, considering its multifunctionality (whether you want to print, copy, scan, or make print your own photos), and at this price, it's a steal!
