|Evolved Technology for Stunning Photography.
Put your hand around the perfectly-shaped grip of Canon's sporty new PowerShot SX1 IS and you're ready for a shooting experience that's advanced in every way. Superb still images powered by Canon's DIGIC 4 Image processor, evolved Face Detection Technology and a wide-angle 20x optical zoom are only the beginning. You can also create Full HD movies and see every detail on your HDTV thanks to HDMI output. The 10.0-megapixel SX1 IS is the very first PowerShot equipped with a CMOS sensor, a hallmark of Canon's lauded EOS line.

Power Zoom to the max7/6/2009
This is simply an awesome camera that takes excellent photos, but yet can substitue as your video camera as well. In fact, the 20x zoom can be operated while filming video where as most point and shoot cameras don't offer this option. NOTE, the camera films at 1080P and a very high Bit Per Second (BPS) rate and therefore results in large file sizes. I found it necessary to downsize the video in order to post on the web for family to view. The camera is a bit larger than the typical pocket point and shoots out there, but I found it comfortable to use all day without much issue. My only recommendation would be to buy a large SDHC card of 8GB or bigger and if possible use a Class 6 even though the manual recommends a class 4. Overall, I'm happy about my purchase and would recommend it to others considering something close to an entry level dSLR, but want the ease of a point and shoot. FYI, there is also a good review on Cameralabs that can help answer questions.
