Once there was a peddler who sold caps. But he was not like an ordinary peddler carrying his wares on his back. He carried them on top of his head. (from the first line)
First published in 1940, this silly story about a peddler and a band of mischievous monkeys has entertained generations of children. Now, even the youngest of readers can enjoy this board book edition, with an abbreviated text that has all the humor and warmth of the original. Full color.
From the Publisher:
A band of mischievous monkeys steals every one of a peddler's caps while he is taking a nap under a tree, in a delightful board-book rendition of the popular children's story.
All the cap peddler's caps are taken by monkeys, who put them on and perch high in a tree. How can the peddler get his merchandise back? Demands and threats don't work, but something else does. A wonderful book to read aloud.
