Author Info
Doris Betts
Betts was born and educated in North Carolina, where she still lives and where much of her fiction is set. She comes from a religious family, and read Bible stories from an early age, and this is also reflected in her fiction, which is sometimes compared to that of Flannery O'Connor. She married an attorney in 1952 and has three children. In addition to writing fiction, she has been a journalist and a teacher.
