Product Overview

It's the cozy little Boston bar where everybody knows your name...welcome to Cheers -- the Emmy Award-winning smash hit television series that kept the laughs uncorked for 11 years. Former pro baseball player Sam "Mayday" Malone (Ted Danson) enjoys a playboy lifestyle as the proprietor of the neighborhood hangout, assisted by his befuddled bartender, Coach (Nicholas Colasanto), and his surly waitress, Carla (Rhea Perlman). Cheers also has Norm (George Wendt) and Cliff (John Ratzenberger) -- two of the funniest barflies you'll ever encounter. And completing the show's ensemble cast is Shelley Long as Diane Chambers, a teaching assistant who suddenly finds herself jilted, jobless-and hired as Sam's newest waitress! A hearty round of laughs is served up in each episode of TV's classic comedy hit...Cheers!

This 32 disc collection includes all 194 episodes from the first eight seasons of Cheers!

Editors Note
Note One of the most beloved and critically acclaimed television series of all time, CHEERS was centered on the colorful staff and patrons of the Boston bar "where everyone knows your name." Run by former Red Sox pitcher and incorrigible ladies' man, Sam Malone (Ted Danson), the establishment's ever-present characters included salty barmaid Carla LeBec (Rhea Perlman); the sweet but dimwitted bartender, Coach (Nicholas Colasanto)--later replaced by the equally flighty Woody Boyd (Woody Harrelson); barflies Norm Peterson (George Wendt) and Cliff Clavin (John Ratzenberger); pompous psychiatrist Frasier Crane (Kelsey Grammer); and his frosty love interest, Lilith Sternin (Bebe Neuwirth). But most of all, the series chronicled the emotionally complex relationships between Sam and his dual love interests--pretentious waitress/intellectual-wannabe Diane Chambers (Shelley Long), and ambitious but neurotic bar manager Rebecca Howe (Kirstie Alley)--with a decidedly mature and intelligent brand of humor that served as a welcome respite from the banality of family-oriented sitcoms. This collection presents the first eight seasons of the warm and witty, multi-award-winning comedy series.

Review One of the greatest television comedies in history, Cheers is an absolute must see for anyone who's ever had a regular hangout "where everybody knows your name". The shows centers itself around a friendly neighborhood Boston bar named Cheers. The bar is owned by former Boston Red Sox relief pitcher Sam Malone (Ted Danson). Sam has two employees - bartender Ernie "Coach" Pantusso (Nicholas Colasanto) and waitress Carla Tortelli (Rhea Perlman). Things are great for Sam until he hires a jilted graduate student named Diane Chambers (Shelley Long) to waitress in the bar. Regular barflies Norm Peterson (George Wendt) and Cliff Clavin (John Ratzenberger) round out a strong supporting cast.
