Works great, but try not to be overwhelmed

by celilo on 3/23/2009

This is a great product, and performs exactly as expected. Sound quality is excellent. I've even had people tell me on the phone that the sound quality was amazing. Be aware that this is a complex device with a potentially overwhelming amount of details for a less technical user that is simply trying to connect to a voip service. The good news is that most voip providers can tell you exactly how to setup your device for their service, so ignore the techno docs and follow a few easy steps from your providers help page to get going quickly. One tip for those that are installing this device behind an existing router rather than using the devices built in router. The easiest way to get going is to connect an ethernet cable to the lan interface from your computer (restart your network interface on your can just reboot), and log into in your web browser, which is the spa-2102 web interface. Enter an unused static ip on your routers subnet. Set "Enable WAN Web Server" to yes, and submit changes. Move the ethernet cable to the wan port and connect the other end to your existing router. Reconnect your computer the router, and restart your network interface. You can now access your spa-2102 at the ip address that you entered for the wan interface. Read More

Great for VoIP do-it-yourself!

by Earl J. on 8/5/2011

The SPA-2102 is an adapter that lets you use your analog (traditional) phones with a VoIP service and your existing broadband Internet connection. Some technical knowledge is required to set this up (or assistance from your VoIP provider) but once you get it installed, it is rock-solid. It is inexpensive enough that if you're not sure if VoIP is for you, you can still justify buying one of these to give it a try. I use this with as my provider and I have already paid for this adapter/router many times over in savings on my phone bill Read More
