I purchased this Gig switch and NIC to speed up a network that handles a lot of word documents stored on a server. Before the upgrade my PC would sit and search with the moving flashlight anywhere from 30 seconds to more than a minute while the documents loaded. With the new Gig Switch and NIC it is almost instantly loaded. The amount of time I save is not nearly as important as the eliminated frustration of staring at that stupid little flashlight for up to 10 minutes a day.

Great value for a 16 port hub. Has run flawlessly and the fan is much quieter than the 8 port SD version I bought a year ago. I have not used any of the management capabilities.
