When robert, an inanimate tire, discovers his destructive telepathic powers, he soon sets his sights on a desert town, in particular, a mysterious woman becomes his obsession.
Editor's Note
Documentary filmmaker Alex Gibney (TAXI TO THE DARK SIDE, ENRON: THE SMARTEST GUYS IN THE ROOM) turns his focus on New York governor Eliot Spitzer, his valiant crusade to hold large financial institutions accountable for their crimes, and his ultimate downfall after enlisting the services of high-priced call girl Ashley Dupre. Unlike many other accounts of the case, which draw primarily from the confessions of Dupre, CLIENT 9 offers a much more detailed overview of Spitzer's incredible rise and fall thanks to the contributions of Peter Elkind, author of ROUGH JUSTICE: THE RISE AND FALL OF ELIOT SPITZER. In addition to landing an interview with the Spitzer himself, Elkind also sat down for a revealing conversation with "Angelina," another woman who spent plenty of time with the ex-governor. A variety of Spitzer's friends, colleagues, and political adversaries also weigh in with their thoughts on the scandal.

Professional Reviews

New York Times
"While its full title suggest that CLIENT 9 is about the highs and lows in one powerful man's life, the movie is more rightly an anatomy of political gamesmanship at a high level." 11/05/2010

A.V. Club
"[T]he film rescues the story from tabloid hell, and asks for a saner assessment of a deeply flawed man." -- Grade: B 11/04/2010

Movieline
"[T]he proliferation of Alex Gibney films alone makes a strong argument for the idea that investigative documentaries are picking up the slack left by the decline of long-form magazine journalism." 11/02/2010

Wall Street Journal
"Say what you will about Eliot Spitzer, he's a marvelous subject for a documentary, and Alex Gibney has made a film worthy of him..." 11/12/2010

Los Angeles Times
"Alex Gibney has expertly used his own set of skills to deliver a taut and compelling investigation of that scandal and what led to it." 11/12/2010

Total Film
4 stars out of 5 -- "[A] compulsively fascinating probe of power and its dark side." 04/01/2011

Sight and Sound
"[A] fascinating film....The film has all the ingredients of a TV crime movie -- sex, money, power and even an undercurrent of comedy." 04/01/2011
