Author Bio
Al Stump
Stump collaborated with baseball legend Ty Cobb on his autobiography "My Life in Baseball: The True Record". Long after Cobb's death, he revised the book into "Cobb: A Biography", which painted an entirely different and not-so-rosy portrait of the player. Stump attended the University of Wisconsin, where he began writing about sports. He served as a war correspondent during World War II, and then wrote about sports for "The Saturday Evening Post", "True", and "Esquire". He also served on the staffs of the "Los Angeles Times" and "Los Angeles Herald Examiner".

Praise

New York Times Book Review
"Cobb: A Biography is the most revealing account we are ever likely to get of the life of a man who is on every sports historian's short list of baseball's greatest players." - Robert Peterson 11/20/94

"The most powerful baseball biography I have read...haunting...memorable...terrifying." - Roger Kahn

Washington Post Book World
"A frightening, unforgettable image of a demigod gone mad. Stump has resurrected Cobb in all his terrifying malevolence."
