Full-color photos. All the basic colors are presented in photographs of easily recognizable objects and creatures
An exploration of and introduction to colors. Bright photographs, such as of a peacock in a field of daffodils and daises, appear on one side of a two page spread. On the other side is a bar graph displaying the individual colors found in the photograph. Readers can match the hues found in the bar graph to their place in the photograph.
Author Bio
Tana Hoban
Tana Hoban is well known for her picture books, which combine photography and other artwork to introduce young readers to basic concepts. Born in the United States, Hoban moved to Paris, France in the mid-1980s. In addition to her work as an author and illustrator of picture books, Hoban is also a filmmaker. Many of her photographs have appeared in magazines, and several belong to the permanent collection of the Museum of Modern Art in New York City.

New York Times Book Review
"Separating the primary colors in each photograph forces viewers to identify and match the flat color swatch to what's in the real world, which can only enhance their powers of observation. This book is a game that becomes challenging when the bars suggest that the viewer find the faintest and subtlest of colors, like the touch of purple in a picture of tropical fish." - Steven Heller 06/11/1995
