From the Publisher:
Nirvana came out of nowhere in 1991 to sell nearly five million copies of their landmark album Nevermind, whose thunderous sound and indelible melodies embodied all the confusion, frustration, and passion of the emerging Generation X. Come As You Are is the close-up, intimate story of Nirvana -- the only book with exclusive in-depth interviews with bandmembers Kurt Cobain, Krist Noveselic, and Dave Grohl, as well as friends, relatives, former bandmembers, and associates -- now updated to include a new final chapter detailing the last year of Kurt Cobain's life, before his tragic suicide in April 1994.Nirvana came out of nowhere in 1991 to sell nearly five million copies of their landmark album Nevermind, whose thunderous sound and indelible melodies embodied all the confusion, frustration, and passion of the emerging Generation X. Author Bio
Michael Azerrad
The author of perhaps the most authoritative biography on seminal 1990s grunge pioneers Nirvana, 1993's COME AS YOU ARE, as well as of a comprehensive, detail-packed overview of the most influential post-punk bands of the 1980s, OUR BAND COULD BE YOUR LIFE, rock music writer and musician Michael Azerrad was born in Westchester, New York in 1960. An early exposure to the Beatles via their SGT. PEPPER'S LONELY HEARTS CLUB BAND album sparked Azerrad's affinity for music, which continued throughout a brief sojourn to California in his teens and his attendance at New York's Columbia College, where he gained a degree in Latin. On graduating, he parlayed a record review submitted to and accepted by Rolling Stone magazine into a successful career in music journalism. In addition to Rolling Stone, Azerrad has written for Spin, MTV News, and a variety of other music-related publications.
