Then the children came - taunting, teasing - until she lost her footing and fell, shrieking her rage to the drowning sea... Michelle: Now Michelle has come from Boston to live in the big house on Paradise Point. She is excited about her new life, ready to make new friends...until a hand reaches out of the swirling mists - the hand of a blind child. Author Bio
John Saul
After graduating from high school in 1959, John Saul went to Antioch College. Six years, four colleges, and at least three different majors later, he abandoned notions of higher education and decided that he would become a writer. He worked a series of temporary jobs while sending multiple manuscripts to various publishers until 1976, when an outline for a novel--his first flirtation with the horror genre--was met with approval at Dell Publishing. The resulting novel, SUFFER THE CHILDREN, one of the first paperbacks to be advertised on television, became an enormous bestseller, though the book was roundly disliked by critics, who were disturbed by its depictions of violence by and against children. This criticism of his work has followed him, as many of his books feature children and teenagers as main characters. Nevertheless, Saul's subsequent books--written on an average of one per year since 1977--have consistently been bestsellers. In addition to his novels, Saul has written for the stage, as well as lecturing at various writer conferences.
