very good options1/5/2014
my laptop is certainly cooler, but even with moving the fans into the best position, the laptop is not as cool as i had hoped. the 3 fans are very quiet. metal surface could use more padding so the underside of my laptop doesn't get scratched up. a great value none the less.
Good Sturdy Product5/7/2013
Cooler has a really nice construction has anti slip pads on the side and bottom which prevents your laptop from slipping. I use it on an i-7, 630M gaming laptop and it definitely keeps it 5-10 degrees cooler. Was really easy to put together too. It is quite silent too.
Good for large laptops.4/30/2013
I am using it fir my 15.4 inch laptop so looks a little bulky for that purpose. But nontheless I like the custom fans placement helps me target the air right where the processor is. I have tried a couple of other fans which doesnt actually direct the air to the right spots. This does exactly that .So I like it.
Excellent for large laptop. Total function.4/29/2013
Ordered this for my 17.3 laptop. I now have a cooler big enough to handle both the physical size footprint and the heat production. While the industrial mesh look may not please fashion mavens, it is all business. Total function. There is enough metal (it is either aluminum or some type of aluminum alloy) to function as a heat sink almost by itself. It has great stability and tremendous rubber insulation for those feet. I can barely hear the fans when they are set to "high." Solid unit. I have the little brother to this unit (the U2). I had some problems with the fans on the U2 unit during the warranty period (started buzzing, still cooled). Cooler Master did the right thing, stepped right up and sent the replacement fans. Solid company.
good cooler but needs modifications4/27/2013
i was looking around for a good cooler. the fans are not that good but they do the job. my computer drops from 160 to 152 in game and before it always stayed at 160F. it drops it few degrees like expected but i'm going to have to modify it and put on some new fans and a power supply just doesn't have enough power for me.
solid metal. looks sturdy. I got this with very quick shipping. the item came as it was described to me from rakuten's website. I think I will like this item because the item was described by website. something that has been a problem in the past.
A silent fan works great4/26/2013
rst let me say I've owned over six different lap top coolers in my life. This is BY FAR the best. First of all, it is SILENT. The only way I can tell it's working is to put my hand near one of the fans. Secondly, it does it's job exactly as promised. . .it doesn't blow air into the computer, it pulls the heat away. It does have an approximately 3 inch high slant to it, I suppose it has to, to accommodate the fans, and I don't really care for that, but that's a minor quibble for an otherwise perfect product.
Have an 18.4 Toshiba Qosmio..this unit fits very well..maybe a 1/4 inch overhang on each side..top to bottom is perfect. I like the ability to place fans where needed. Even in a quiet room, you can barely hear the fans running. Another plus is that the fans are variable speed..almost like a summer/winter function. Construction very good, looks nice and sturdy. For the price this is an EXCELLENT value .....you will not be disappointed..free shipping was extremely fast also
Best cooler stand for large laptops!10/17/2010
My HP wide screen EliteBook laptop with Core Extreme processor and nVidia Quadro video generates much more heat than the internal fan can handle. Finding a way to cool it effectively and quietly has been a challenge. The one cooling stand for a wide laptop I had found up to this point was not wide enough and had fans in the wrong place. When the computer is stressed, particularly when using both CPU and screen video for presentations, the only way the pad would keep the machine cool enough to continue running at full speed was to turn it sideways, slanting down from left to right, placing the two fans on the left side instead of at the back. Awkward at best, and looks stupid when the computer is visible to the audience. Enter the Cooler Master NotePal U3 Cooling Stand - it's wide enough to cover the entire bottom of the laptop with its cooling surface. The three fans are easily moved to put maximum cooling on your particular laptop's hot spots. A motor speed control lets you balance the amount of cooling needed against the amount of fan noise you can tolerate, but the fans are so quiet you probably will leave it run on high. The entire platform is molded from a sheet of perforated aluminum meaning it cools pretty well even without the fans if you want to save the laptop battery by not plugging in the USB power tap. That tap also has its own USB socket, so you don't lose any ports for other uses. Full retail price is the same as what I paid for the one that didn't get the job done, and the Buy.com price is 25% off that. I rarely rate any product firewalled at 5, but this laptop cooler deserves it. Works very well, easy to use, and a great value, much better than anything I've found elsewhere. That is not to say it's perfect for everyone. If you want to use your computer on your lap, the molded aluminum isn't very comfortable by itself. The padded cooler I bought earlier is much better for that if I'm not taxing the system. The U3 is also very large - too wide to fit in my extra-large laptop bag, even though its designed to fit around the laptop when the fans are removed. With the cooler in the bag, it's not possible to zip the laptop compartment closed. If I travel with it, the U3 will probably have to go in checked baggage. Even with those minor down sides, this is by far the best cooler stand I have yet found for a large laptop with heavy cooling needs. If you have a 17" or larger wide screen laptop that cranks out the heat, this is the stand you've been looking for!
