| The Gravel Pit's first release on CD (and second LP overall) is an enjoyable if uneven effort. While there is little here for the uninitiated, fans of the band will be pleased; songs like "Standing in My Way" and the surprisingly mature "She's Right Yeah, Yeah, Yeah, Yeah" exhibit all of what made their later releases so enjoyable. The sound here is a bit more raw, and the songs are not quite as fully formed, but overall this was a very good attempt, considering the group was still in their formative stages. ~ Jason Damas | |

Alternative Press (5/95, p.68)
- "...Gravel Pit draw on a classic lineage while avoiding the predictable....they recall New Haven forbears Miracle Legion, Sloan, Big Star, and most distinctly, a mid-'70s Kinks imbued with the early Kinks' attitude and energy....an earnest pop mastery as unusual on majors as on this ultra-indie label..."
