From the Publisher:
A powerful high-tech company. A postcard-pretty company town. Families. Children. Sunshine. Happiness. A high school football team that never-ever loses. And something else. Something horrible ... Now, there is a new family in town. A shy, nature-loving teenager. A new hometown. A new set of bullies. Maybe the teams sports clinic can help him. Rebuild him. They wont hurt him again. They won't dare. The quiet, postcard-perfect town of Silverdale seems to be the ideal location for Ellen and Blake Tanner and their son Mark to settle down. Yet soon after moving to this model community, Ellen begins to suspect that it conceals horrific forces. In time Ellen and Blake will know evils that turn even the most loving child murderous. For Ellen and Blake Tanner, along with their son Mark, Silverdale, Colorado seems too good to be true, but the family is soon subjected to secret rituals and a hidden evil

Author Bio
John Saul
After graduating from high school in 1959, John Saul went to Antioch College. Six years, four colleges, and at least three different majors later, he abandoned notions of higher education and decided that he would become a writer. He worked a series of temporary jobs while sending multiple manuscripts to various publishers until 1976, when an outline for a novel--his first flirtation with the horror genre--was met with approval at Dell Publishing. The resulting novel, SUFFER THE CHILDREN, one of the first paperbacks to be advertised on television, became an enormous bestseller, though the book was roundly disliked by critics, who were disturbed by its depictions of violence by and against children. This criticism of his work has followed him, as many of his books feature children and teenagers as main characters. Nevertheless, Saul's subsequent books--written on an average of one per year since 1977--have consistently been bestsellers. In addition to his novels, Saul has written for the stage, as well as lecturing at various writer conferences.
