I bought this to replace a burned out HD in my 2006 Macbook Pro. Because I do most of my computing online, I decided that the 64gb model would be sufficient. For reference, I have installed OSX 10.5.8, the full MS Office 2011 suite, as well as a variety of other programs and I still have 38gb to spare. Keep in mind though, this is without storing any media on the drive. As far as performance goes, this drive dramatically has decreased the load times for both startup and application opening. Very pleased.
This was my first experience with an SSD. I was nervous about upgrading to an SSD because of so many stability problems reported on different websites and blogs. After reading many different reviews and user comments, I chose the Crucial M4 over the Intel 510 Series which was originally my first choice. My primary requirement for the SSD was stability over performance. I figured the performance difference between an OCZ Vertex 3, or a Crucial M4, or an Intel 510 would be virtually unnoticeable in a real world environment. However, a drive that often crashes would definitely be noticeable. The Intel has the highest stability ratings but the price was a big pill to swallow for the 64GB.
This is my third Cruial SSD. My first has been running for 1 year with no problem. This one is part of a raid 0 config that i have been running for over a month. Windows 7 WEI rates it 7.9
Replaced a 250GB HD with this on Acer AO531h. This was my first SSD purchase and I chose this particular one because of overwhelming positive reviews. I read some had difficulty in making this particular netbook recognize the SSD and required a change in BIOS setting but I didn't have a problem at all. Everything went smoothly and I'm very satisfied with the purchase.
This was a HOT deal at $99. The drive is the latest generation and super fast. It works very well with Intel RST on the Z68 chipset or even on older SATA systems. I highly recommend this inexpensive and fast SSD for all computer systems. I use it for a gaming drive and for certain applications....it SMOKES these like a cheap cigar!
Took WAY less time to load windows, takes WAY less time to boot windows, & software runs like a dream.
Sweet piece for Gamers7/20/2011
Makes CPU to load the game about 25% faster. Windows takes like 2 times less time to start as well.
