Customer Reviews of D-Link DIR-625 RangeBooster Wireless N Router
Excellent product with a Junk piece of Software in4/9/2009
Pros: I liked the product, Its an excellent product. I am using it for last 4 weeks no problem yet. I have 4 computers. 2 with Windows XP, 1 with Windows Vista Home Premium, 1 Leopard OSX (MAC). 3 computers (Vista, Mac, XP) are on Woreless and 1 XP is on ethernet cable. It works fine. Cons: 1. It came with a Network Magic software on the CD which uses MAC addresses to configure your wired and wireless computers. But some computers were not able to connect and it makes my router to confuse. MAC address security is the strongest but Its very hard to configure with that particular software. So I uninstalled Network Magic software I used WEP Security. Since then It is working fine.
D-Link DIR625 is good3/29/2009
I have had this router for about 2 weeks now and so far it has been very good. I have not dropped a connection yet. Setup was a breeze. D-Link is much better than the Netgear I had earlier which had to be reset at least once every week.
Great value for a nice product3/4/2009
Easy to install and use. Much better signal than the wireless b I had before. So far so good.
Excellent Wireless DIR - 625 Router3/4/2009

Excellent service, Speedy Delivery, You can't find that type of Customer Service Anymore! Thanks Again Buy.Com
I have used plenty of different brands of routers in the past. I decided to replace my old router with this D-link Wireless N Router and it is everything I could ask for. I've only had it for a few days, but it has been working flawlessly through a wired ethernet connection, and just a tad slower than expected wirelessly (still good enough speeds to download large files or game on), but I'm sure it's something in the options that I have to sort through to get it up to speed. Setting up the router was easy, the amount of options this router has is amazing, and the Version C I have of this router is fantastic. I would recommend this router to anyone looking for a fantastic product!
We have had this router for over three years with no problems. It has been used in two seperate homes and has a very fast connection. I wonder if those with connection problems had different brand antennas or maybe were wireless G instead of N. You might want to check version number because newer version C hardware has shareport technology allowing you to use the USB connection to plug printer or external hardrive directly into making them accessible to all computers through the router.
problems with VPN11/3/2008
I purchased this router for a new apartment. I had a Linksys router where I was living and never had to configure anything to connect to my company's VPN. With this router I couldn't get connected no matter how many different ways I (and the help desk at D-Link) configured it. I ended up swapping it with a Linksys that didn't need any adjustments. As for the signal quality, it was superb and easy to connect to.
Purchased this to replace a Belkin Pre-N unit. It runs my Windows XP and my wifes Mac without any problems through the wireless feature. I setup WPA and still maintain fast speed. I download media, play online games (Fortress 2, COD4 & others) without any problem. Setup is somewhat challenging. It has an automatic setup but I chose manual to tweek some settings. You should upgrade firmware as suggested before proceeding with installation. I have had for almost two months and am glad I purchased this. I have not had to reboot the router (daily with my Belkin). Great product.
Product is 10 times solwer than my G router10/4/2008
I have purchased this product, as it claims 12 times faster than G router, but it looks like its 10 times slower. I have called customer service and they have upgraded the firmvare on router to 3.6, but still no good, finally they said its defective and asked to return to place where I have purchased the product. I am still in process of returning it.
The router speed is 10 times slow than g router10/4/2008
I purchased this router and checked the speed its much slower when compared to my G router I had. I called D Link support, they have asked me to upgrate the software ver on router, after that still made no difference, they have asked to return the product, so doing the same. Please do not buy this product.
Nothing great is ever achieved without much suffer7/7/2008
As a self-motivated female, I was extremely proud of myself when I did extensive research and finally decided to purchase the DIR-625 wireless router. I however lost the independent facade when it came to setting the router up. Even my technologically savvy and gifted partner had an extremely hard time setting the router up. D-link has a helpful over-the-phone support staff who patiently assisted us in set up. Now that we have the router working - it's amazing! Pages load instantly, and there is no waiting for big downloads that used to take 4 hours - now only take 1! I feel like it's almost too good to be true! I would recommend this router to any and everyone!
Overall seems to work well - with limited experien6/30/2008
I've installed and used a lot of different brand routers. I prefer DLink for ease of setup. For this one, I had to replace an old DLink router that, for some reason, had the DHCP server portion fail and started issuing the same IP address. This unit was easily installed. I don't use any automated installation but set up everything myself and it was very easy to do with this model of DLink. The only issue I have had (which lowered my ratings) to date is that I saved the configuration and then updated the firmware. Unlike the instructions indicated, you could not load the old configuration and had to set up everything again. That will be a serious problem if there are frequent firmware updates. Can't speak well to the range since I also have WAPs set up in my home to assure adequate coverage everywhere.
Its my first wireless router and i like it. its easy to set up and configure any time. Good price too.
Second time the Charm4/1/2008
The first router I tried was a Belkin, it was junk. This one worked great and has continued to work great. The software installation for the Belkin was easier, but the unit was junk, the D-link was a little more difficult to install, but hasn't missed a lick since installed. I would recommend it.
Good range and Solid3/18/2008
I originally bought a Belkin N Router and found it refused to be stable. It kept dropping my PC off the net. It was easy to set up however. This router was a little tougher to set up but it works great. It is solid as a rock and easily runs my laptop next door. I would definitely buy again.
I always thought D-Link was providing bargain basement products but this router is by far superior to the Linksys/Cisco products I've used. Setup was a snap. It has been running for two weeks and appears to be rock solid. Security setup doesn't take a PhD and QOS support is very good. I'm impressed with this product.
doubled my speed over old DI-7046/25/2007
I installed this to replace my old D-Link DI-704. The only hitch was the CD-installed wizard was unable to finish the install, I got message saying "no connection" to Internet even though my Windows Network told me there was a connection. But I was able to access the router and configured it manually (access IP address 192.168.0.1). It came up after I told it to "clone PC MAC address" and also entered the DNS addresses for Comcast). Works great, it doubled my speed.
