Better reputation than actual quality
I purchased this item because to this point I have always heard good things about Dlink. I am somewhat disappointed with this item, however. I have used the item infrequently for approx. 4 months before it suddenly stopped working and caused my entire system to freeze up. I tried reinstalling the drivers, and verified that the actual problem was not with the pcmcia components internal to my laptop or the USB devices I was trying to connect. After all of this I attempted to contact Dlink for an RMA, only to find out that you cannot actually request one from their site. You have to send them an e-mail and wait for them to decide that an RMA is warranted before you can request service. If they feel that one is warranted, they are supposed to contact you in 3-4 days. If not, you have no way to follow up on the request. I did not find this customer service policy very reassuring and will not likely purchase more of their products without considerable research into the performance.
