I have to say that I have been pretty happy overall with D-Link's products. Their DWA-652 N pc-card is no exception; I found the set up to be straight forward and simple and I like that D-Link defaults to Windows Wireless management rather than using their own like Linksys does. I haven't had the chance to use it in a Wireless-N environment but it works great in my 108 G network.
Good Accessory, But is it needed...?1/28/2009
The product is kind of outdated which I figured out from date of manufacture, application CD that came along never completed a successful run on Windows Vista. I had to call customer service and it was horrible. Two days later, the system crashed altogether and would reboot until a BSOD appeared, ended up restaging. Since then I havent loaded the software but downloaded the drivers from d-link site and it appears to be working fine. Connects at 300 Mbps but I dont feel a big difference compared to the 130 Mbps internal wireless card. I tried downloading a huge file and it saved me like 4-5 mins. It also dropped the connection 2-3 times so far in a month's time.
Very Well Pleased1/7/2009
Bought this adaptor to replace an old Linksys adaptor. I also replaced an old Linksys wireless router with a DLink DIR-655 Router. I am very pleased with the ease of setup as well as the performance. There have been no problems whatever with the wireless connections. I highly recommend this adaptor as well as the router.
Easy installation. Returning from hibernation, the board doesn't always connect to the router, and sometimes I even have to reboot my laptop. The "repair" option doesn't even work. As for speed, I can't usually tell the difference with my built-in 11g adapter... I don't know if it's the board or the N router...
The D-Link is wonderful! It was very easy to install and works like a charm!
