Editor's Note
Sucking in viewers with the dramas, scandals, and intrigues of the Texan elite, DALLAS quickly became a national sensation after debuting in 1978. The most popular nighttime soap since the 1960s series PEYTON PLACE, the series would run for a total of 13 seasons and become one of the biggest hits of the 1980s. Driven principally by the dramatic affairs of the rich Ewing family, DALLAS derived much of its drama from its character's pursuit of money, sex, and power. Starring Larry Hagman as the nefarious J.R. Ewing, the series also boasted a talented supporting cast, including Patrick Duffy, Victoria Principal, Linda Gray, and many more. This release contains every episode from the seventh season of the show.

Professional Reviews

The DVD Report 9 of 10
...Dallas is the epitome of the prime-time drama/soap opera genre. Premiering in 1978 as a five part mini-series, the show combines the usual sex and innuendo of classic afternoon soap operas with the freewheeling adventure of Texas wildcats and filthy rich capitalist oil barons. The combination of business dealings and rampant affairs tested well with both the male and female demographic, prompting CBS to make Dallas a regular part of its prime-time lineup. The result was one of the most successful television shows in history. - Britt Gillette

The Boston Phoenix 8 of 10
The popularity of potboiler mini-series like Rich Man, Poor Man inspired CBS to try a nighttime soap opera. Dallas soon became the most popular show on TV, in large part because of Larry Hagman's performance as the villainous J.R. Ewing. Besides inspiring several other soaps, Dallas began the practice of ending each season with a cliffhanger -- notably the "Who Shot J.R.?" storyline. Eventually, Dallas was done in by a paradox of nighttime soaps. Such programs promise twists in their storylines, but they really depend on stable casts, just as on sit-coms. - Robert David Sullivan
