When David gets in trouble, he has excuses right up until bedtime, when he realizes he really is sorry and apologizing makes him feel better. By the creator of No, David! *Author: Shannon, David *Series Title: David *Publication Date: 2002/09/01 *Binding Type: School And Library *Grade Level: Preschool *Language: English *Depth: 0.50 *Width: 9.00 *Height: 11.50
From the Publisher:
When David gets in trouble, he always says, "No! It's not my fault! I didn't mean to! It was an accident!" Whatever the situation, David has a good excuse. And no matter what he's done "wrong," it's never really his fault. Soon, though, David realizes that making excuses makes him feel bad, and saying he's sorry makes him feel better. Once again, David Shannon entertains us with David's mischievous antics and a lighthearted story that is sure to leave kids (and parents) laughing.David doesn't mean to get in trouble. It's not his fault most of the time, it's just an accident! or maybe he forgot something. Or some furniture got in the way. Once again, David Shannon proves he knows every excuse in the book-especially when faced with the age-old problem of dealing with grown-ups.
Annotation:
Whenever David gets into trouble he has an excuse for his behavior such as "It's not my fault," "I didn't mean to," and even (after eating a dog biscuit) "I was hungry." Eventually David takes responsibility for his actions, offers an apology, and is rewarded with a loving hug from his mother. Color illustrations accompany the text.
Author Bio
David Shannon
Author and illustrator David Shannon holds a B.F.A. from the Art Center College of Design. He has illustrated the works of such authors as Isaac Asimov, Robert D. San Souci, and Jane Yolen. One of Shannon's most popular works is one he both wrote and illustrated--the picture book NO, DAVID. This book was inspired by events from his own rambunctious childhood; in fact, he wrote what was to be the first draft of this book when he was still a child--the text consisting solely of the two words he knew how to spell at the time: "no" and "David."
