Author Bio
David Baldacci
It's rare that former presidents Bill Clinton and George H.W. Bush agree on anything, but both have publically proclaimed themselves fans of the bestselling novels of David Baldacci. Born (in 1960) and raised in Richmond, Virginia, Baldacci majored in political science at Virginia Commonwealth University before getting his law degree from the University of Virginia. He then practiced law in Washington D.C. for almost a decade, all the while trying to ignite his writing career by submitting short stories to various journals and publishers. After collecting rejection notices for several years, most people would likely surrender their dreams in frustration, but Baldacci decided to dive even deeper into his writing career by penning a novel, which eventually became the instant bestseller ABSOLUTE POWER. This remarkable debut showcases all of the literary stylings and plot elements that Baldacci has become best known for--sharply drawn characters testing their own morality as they become engaged in various levels of political intrigue. Several of his books document the high-stakes adventures of the Camel Club, a group of four political watchdogs who expose and undermine governmental conspiracies. While Baldacci's thrillers have become mainstays on bestseller lists worldwide, he has refused to settle into a niche churning out a formulaic series, instead exploring other genres in his critically-acclaimed books THE CHRISTMAS TRAIN and WISH YOU WELL. He is also a prominent philanthropist and, in 2002, Baldacci and his wife Michelle created the Wish You Well Foundation, a renowned charitable supporter of literacy programs.
