For years, Jack Ryan, Jr. and his colleagues at the Campus have waged an unofficial and highly effective campaign against the terrorists who threaten western civilization. The most dangerous of these is the Emir. This sadistic killer has masterminded the most vicious attacks on the west and has eluded capture by the world''s law enforcement agencies. Now the Campus is on his trail. Joined by their latest recruits, John Clark and Ding Chavez, Jack Ryan, Jr. and his cousins, Dominick and Brian Caruso, are determined to catch the Emir and they will bring him in...dead or alive.
After a more than five-year hiatus, genre-defining thriller novelist Tom Clancy returns with this family reunion of a novel, which features some of the author's favored characters from over the years. Jack Ryan, Jr. works doggedly with the others at the Campus, an anti-terrorism organization, to keep the United States safe from violent attacks--even when the politicians are not prioritizing such efforts. The current target is the Emir, a violent madman hell bent on destroying the West. Clancy and his co-writer Grant Blackwood pen a high-stakes, high-energy novel with DEAD OR ALIVE, one sure to thrill long-time fans with the many cameos (Jack Ryan, Sr., Ding Chavez, Brian and Dominick Caruso, and others).
Author Bio
Tom Clancy
An insurance executive well into his late 30s, Tom Clancy first hit fame and fortune with the spy thriller "The Hunt for Red October", the sales of which soared when President Ronald Reagan called it a personal favorite. Though Clancy was never a military man himself, due to poor eyesight, he closely studied declassified military documents and used the technical information he gleaned from them to write his best-selling thrillers. Most of Clancy's novels feature ex-marine Jack Ryan, an intelligence analyst working with the CIA. Often the reluctant hero, Ryan battles foes such as international terrorists and powerful drug lords, often finding himself deeply immersed in the high-stakes world of espionage.

"[T]his latest book, like the most interesting of Clancy's work, has a tendency to both pander to popular fantasy (in this case, revenge) and, simultaneously, to play against it with hard-headed insights into the real world of military and intelligence operations. It's a fruitful tension that lends his books a quirky, appealing unpredictability...." - Tim Rutten 12/08/2010
