Fun zombie hack-n-slash

by Anthony on 10/14/2011

This game can get a bit repetitive, even though there are a lot of things to grab and use to attack zombies. Yet it's still fun to fight the hordes of zombies roaming around. The game itself isn't very long it only lasts about 6 hours. The design of the game seems more structured than the first one. It does have a two player co-op mode to help extend the replay value. I'd recommend this if you've never played them or have a friend to play with. Read More

Fun and addicting

The type of objectives in Dead Rising 2 are very similar to the first game. U have a person informing you of the locations of survivors in the shopping center, & you fight your way to them in attempted rescue. This is a much less frustrating process in this sequel. For one thing, in the first game, if you didn't have an HDTV, u were probably out of luck when it came to reading the text that informed u of mission updates and objective details. Read More

Product Overview

Dead Rising 2 is set several years after the infamous zombie invasion of Willamette. Unfortunately, the zombie virus was not contained at the conclusion of Dead Rising, spreading unchecked throughout the United States and Dead Rising 2 depicts a country where zombie outbreaks continue to strike. The player will have to fight zombies in "Fortune City", a gambling paradise inspired by Las Vegas.

Review Dead Rising 2 is good. Very good, in fact. I felt like I needed to get that out right away. See, a few weeks ago I previewed the first two days of the game, and I found a title that was chugging in spots, suffering from really long loads, and generally not performing like a game that was about to come out. I reported that Capcom said it was aware of the issues and working to fix them, but even I rolled my eyes at the idea of the company getting everything in line for launch day. Well, it's not perfect and it is rough around the edges here and there, but Dead Rising 2 is definitely a winner...Of course, it's also a lot like the last game, so if you thought that one was a loser, you should probably proceed with caution ? zombies ahead...Both multiplayer modes are fun for a lark, but they're not the meat and potatoes of the game -- that's the story, and there's nothing wrong with that. Although I don't think multiplayer is awesome, I like that it's here to help make single-player a richer experience...Again, Dead Rising 2 has issues. It's not the smoothest game and it can feel like the last one, however that doesn't mean a thing when the game's this much fun. Using a car battery and a Street Fighter mask to electrocute the undead and a set of knives and a pair of boxing gloves to make Wolverine claws are all great times. Watching Chuck get covered in blood as he slays thousands of zombies, changing outfits so that one minute you're in a toddler clothes with a LEGO head and the next you're in a sundress, and listening to completely whacked out boss stories ? that's what I remember about Dead Rising 2. Any issue the game might have just falls to the backburner.

Review For the sequel, Blue Castle Games and Capcom took a long, hard look at the first game and addressed nearly all of its major annoyances. The end result is one of the most enjoyable games I've played this year...Even after playing for dozens of hours, you'll still find new things in Dead Rising 2. I won't spoil anything, but there's a lot of variety to be found in the game beyond obvious things like the number of objects that can be used as bludgeons. This game is designed for multiple playthroughs, and I'm looking forward to each and every one of them.

Review Dead Rising 2's ultimate selling point is the size and scope of the title - you'll never run out of activities to occupy your time. The new weapon-manufacturing mechanic ate up hours of my playthrough; it's so engaging that I let critical missions pass without care. The open-ended nature and ability to start the narrative over while maintaining character progression encouraged me to explore every facet of the game, resulting in an extremely personal and fulfilling experience.

Review This game is deliciously entertaining as you are literally thrown into every Zombie movie created as you hack, shoot, bash, maim, drive, insert a hundred more Zombie takedowns of your choice to survive in this zombie infested city...This is what gaming should be about sometimes, a mindless and fun destructive experience as you dispatch zombie after zombie. Thankfully the story enhances the overall gameplay that features a plethora of genres from comedy to horror and even romance. The main character in Dead Rising 2, Chuck Greene is quite a likeable fellow, so it's easy for the player to relate to this man forced to fend for himself in order to save his daughter. Great stuff!

Features
Development Pedigree: Dead Rising 2 is being developed by Canadian developer Blue Castle Games in close collaboration with Capcom. A number of members from the original Dead Rising team will be working alongside Blue Castle Games throughout the development process, including Capcom's global head of research and development Keiji Inafune, who serves as the game's producer.
More Zombies and Weapons: With hundreds of zombies on screen at any one time, the original Dead Rising forced gamers to turn everyday objects they found in a mall into improvised weapons capable of fending off attacks. Now, Dead Rising 2 increases the carnage with even more zombies intent on feasting on human flesh, and countless new objects with which Chuck can make the undead dead.
New Character: Play as former national Motocross champion Chuck Greene. Before he hit the big time with a team and sponsorship behind him, Chuck was forced to repair his own bikes, leaving him incredibly resourceful and a real handyman. A single father, Chuck dotes on his daughter Katey who he will do anything for since the loss of her mother.
New Locale: Dead Rising 2 shifts the action from the everyday world of mid-West America to the glitz and glamor of Fortune City, America's latest and greatest entertainment playground. People flock to Fortune City from around the globe to escape from reality and the chance to win big.
