Great large screen6/14/2012
Nice screen, good styling, good color, good clarity and crispness. All around a good deal if you want a premium 30" screen at a reasonable price.
The U3011 is hands down the best display that I've owned. The hi resolution display settings and accurate color display is amazing.
expensive but good1/7/2012
If you are seriously considering dropping 1300 on a monitor you are either a professional or an idiot with money. I fall solidly in the latter category but I have yet to regret my purchase. The screen is huge, the color deep and lifelike (I do dabble in photography), and the response time adequate for gaming. But buy it from dell. I got it on sale with a 5yr warranty for just under $1200.
Let me just say this, once you have used a 30" monitor, it's hard to come back to anything else. I previously purchased a 24" Dell Ultrasharp 2407WFP, and for most part I was pretty happy with it. But since I watch a lot of movies and edit a lot of photos on my computer, I wanted something a little bit bigger. So I bought the Dell U3011 and the HP ZR30w. The Dell monitor's appearance follows the standard Dell industrial design, which isn't as attractive as the Apple Cinema display. It has tons of input options for all your electronic devices. Overall, this is a great monitor, although I still stick to my 30" HP ZR30w for FPS games. The OSD is a really big advantage over the HP ZR30w though. However, I found the HP ZR30w to have better color and contrast. So I will be keeping the HP ZR30w and will return this Dell. One thing I've noticed is that my electricity bill has been a lot higher ever since I switched from a 24" panel to a 30" panel.
