Demetri Martin is funny like a writer for The Simpsons is funny. He's smart funny. He doesn't treat his audience as if they need to play catch up. He's quirky but not to the point of distraction. In many ways, his comedy straddles a line between adult themes and childlike observances. It's an interesting mix and something that very few comics do well. However, in my opinion Demetri Martin is in the cream of the crop of comics on the rise in the United States...Demetri Martin - Person is pretty much everything you could ever want from the comic in one DVD release. Comprised mainly of his stand up appearance in Austin, Texas, the DVD includes a number of other performance clips, his original Comedy Central Presents set, commentary on the main set, deleted bits, jokes that never made it, etc. It's like a box set only it's one disc...because Demetri hasn't been around long enough to produce a box set worth of material...He uses props, stages elaborate readings and plays. He'll bring out his mother and grandmother and joke at their expense. The guy does his best to mix it up and 99.9% of the time, it works. So, if you want to spend 45 minutes smiling from ear to ear and laughing out loud, probably the cheapest way to do so is to buy or rent this DVD. It's just that simple. - Cary Christopher
