Fantastic for the money9/10/2012
I bought mine Denon Certified Refurbished/Class B stock with 1 year warranty. This is an incredible receiver for the money. Component to HDMI conversion (but not scaling) is useful. AirPlay is nice, but only audio not video. I would have liked to see two HDMI outputs, pre-outs for the front left and right (it just has sub pre-out) and two component inputs but you can't have everything at this price. I am running 5.1 but plan to use the other 2 channels to drive an outside stereo zone on the deck in future when I get the wiring installed. UI is a little old-fashioned and lacking resolution. The Roomie app for iPhone is good for controlling it. With my Energy 5.0 Classic speakers and REL sub it rocks!
Not bad at all...6/29/2012
At under $400, an excellent price for a receiver that I believe out performs many others costing $100s of dollars more. The user interface is a bit complicated with the structure of the on screen menus but for the most part can be figured out over time. Having decided to move away from my HK which I paid $2000 for, I am pleased with the performance and sound quality of this piece and would recommend it. One item that I felt was conspicuously absent would be a wifi dongle to take advantage of the airplay and streaming media.
Easy to set up and works great6/13/2012
It was simple to set up and connect to everything. The sound is just amazing.
Great so far5/15/2012
Hookup for my basic system was easy and straightforward. I am running a 6.1 system, and for a minute I thought it couldn't be set up that way, but one of the speaker setups let me choose a single rear surround, which solved that problem. I have all my home theater stuff in a wooden cabinet and use a Harmony remote with RF extender. This unit was finicky with the doors shut. It didn't like the IR blaster. After numerous relocations, I double side taped it face down over the IR receiver - works.
I recently decided to replace my 10 year old JVC 1100W 7.1 surround sound receiver because of it's lack of HDMI functionality. I did a lot of research and read that the Denon AVR-1912 receiver was the best all-around system. I bought mine through Amazon.com Wharehouse Deals and have no regrets. The system is installed and works perfectly with no issues whatsoever. Here are my Pros and Cons for this product: PROs - Best value vs. quality of product and set of features - Easy to setup and use within 15 minutes - Excellent sound reproduction and clean channel separation, especially when listening to 5.1 and 7.1 surround - Internet enabled - allows for updating firmware quickly and for listening to internet radio - Very light for a 860 Watt receiver - Surround sound calibration microphone is included for conducting initial setup of your surround sound speaker system
AVR-1912 Very Good Mid Level AV Receiver4/23/2012
Great sound quality. User Interface is not easy.
It does exactly what I wanted. I was looking for a receiver that was airplay compatible and reasonably priced. I plugged it in out of the box and within minutes I had pandora streaming from my ipad to the denon. Sound is great and easy to set up. The only complaint I have so far is when you use the Denon app to turn on/off the unit it stops sending the airplay signal to the ipad so you have to restart the whole receiver. Hopefully something they can fix with a software update but really not a big deal as you just get up and turn it on and then turn it off.
Receiver was fantastic right out of the box. The sound is incredible, blows my old receiver away. The network/internet radio features are awesome. Love this receiver!
