Your Favorite Movies Are Going to Be Destroyed.
Over the course of one evening, an unsuspecting group of twenty-somethings find themselves bombarded by a series of natural disasters and catastrophic events.

"...undeniably funny in more spots than a right-thinking, mature adult person feels comfortable admitting.  Jim Schembri, The Age
"'s quite funny to see Hannah Montana still promoting her tie-in products as she lies crushed and dying under a meteor.  Owen Gleiberman, Entertainment Weekly

Editor's Note
Jason Friedberg and Adam Seltzer--the two guys who did EPIC MOVIE, DATE MOVIE, SCARY MOVIE, and MEET THE SPARTANS--bring you DISASTER MOVIE, a compendium of gross-out gags and reference-check quasi-satire bits aping THE INCREDIBLE HULK, INDIANA JONES AND THE KINGDOM OF THE CRYSTAL SKULL, HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL, JUMPER, ENCHANTED, DON'T MESS WITH THE ZOHAN, SEX AND THE CITY, NIGHT AT THE MUSEUM, and so on. The story is structured via CLOVERFIELD with Will (Matt Lanter), after having a 10,000 B.C.-style dream involving an Amy Winehouse look-a-like (Nicole Parker), races against time to rescue his girlfriend (Vanessa Minnillo) who is trapped in a museum with references to TWISTER; meanwhile kids who look like the teens from SUPERBAD try and score booze. What? Along for the ride are a JUNO-esque slacker girl (Crista Flanagan) and Gary "G-Thang" Johnson; there are take-offs of ALVIN AND THE CHIPMUNKS, and celebrity impersonations of Dr. Phil, Michael Jackson, the real Kim Kardashian, and the ubiquitous Carmen Electra; lots of dances and fights and dance/fights (à la STEP UP and STEP UP 2 THE STREETS). The comedy talent here is mostly imported from MAD TV, particularly Parker, who also does ENCHANTED and a mean Jessica Simpson. The recipe here, as before, is to cram in as many pop-culture references as possible, douse liberally with gross bodily fluids, and serve face forward. In other words, it's the perfect film for loud shouts and inappropriate laughter with a roomful of one's most off-color cohorts.

After breaking up with his gorgeous girlfriend Amy (Vanessa Minnillo), Will (Matt Lanter) throws a Super Duper Sweet Sixteen party -- even though he's 28. Along for the festivities are pregnant pal Juney (Crista Flanagan), best buddy Calvin (G. Thang), and his lady Lisa (Kim Kardashian). Without warning, the city is pummeled by asteroids, spoiling the fun and sending Will and his friends out into the streets. There, they run into an ice storm, a tornado, and various holdovers from the 2007-2008 movie season. When he discovers Amy is trapped in the local museum, Will vows to save her, as well as the the full review

The Onion A.V. Club 5 of 10
Barely qualifying as parody, let alone satire, the latest salvo from the Date Movie duo of Jason Friedberg and Aaron Seltzer is a collection of pop-culture references so broad and obvious, they struggle to qualify as jokes. Plucking the signature scenes from a grab bag of recent hit movies, Disaster Movie strings them together with a plot that has commitment-phobic Matt Lanter dodging earth-destroying asteroids to reunite with estranged squeeze Vanessa Minnillo. Although that plot is obviously swiped from Cloverfield, Friedberg and Seltzer never actually get around to spoofing the movie's first-person shakycam gimmick; they're too busy taking potshots at sitting ducks. Take that, Michael Jackson! Although a handful of D-list celebs (Carmen Electra, Kim Kardashian) show up as themselves, the vast majority of the celebrity impressions are of the "Look! It's..." variety, which is often the only way to tell who you're supposed to be looking at...Coming barely seven months after Meet The Spartans, Disaster Movie has the feel of make-work churned out on deadline...Think the idea of Juno roundhouse-kicking Sex And The City's Carrie Bradshaw is a hoot and a half? You've come to the right place...It's too easy to say Disaster Movie deserves its title, but why put more effort into trashing it than the filmmakers did into writing it? - Sam Adams
