Motion picture great Doris Day is back with a third smash season of her hilarious situation comedy series, which ran on CBS-TV from 1968-1973. In year three of THE DORIS DAY SHOW, Doris Martin (Day) moves from the country to an apartment in San Francisco over an Italian restaurant run by Louis and Angie Pallucci, played by Bernie Kopell (The Love Boat) and Kaye Ballard (The Mothers-In-Law). Doris continues to work for editor Michael Nicholson (McLean Stevenson from M*A*S*H) at Today s World magazine, along with friend Myrna Gibbons (Rose Marie of The Dick Van Dyke Show). Among the many guest stars are Tony Bennett, Meredith Baxter, Henry Fonda, Van Johnson, Dick Van Patten, Larry Storch, Ricardo Montalban, John Astin and Billy DeWolfe. THE DORIS DAY SHOW SEASON 3 contains all 26 remastered episodes from the 1970-71 season, plus a wealth of rare and new bonus features. Format: DVD MOVIE

"...Doris certainly is charismatic...She's got a terrific smile...and a voice that's deep and sultry...The cast around her can't be beat.  Cynthia Boris, DVD Verdict
"Charming and unpretentious...  Variety

Editor's Note
A popular situation comedy of the late 1960s, this wholesome family fare chronicled the lives of young widow Doris Day and her two sons, Billy and Toby. In this season, Doris quits her job at TODAY'S WORLD--a popular magazine--and moves into a city apartment above an Italian restaurant. Doris befriends the owners and gradually adjusts to life in the city. All 26 episodes from the third season are included here.

Professional Reviews

DVD Talk 7 of 10
I suspect that the production history behind The Doris Day Show will prove to be more interesting to today's viewers, than the show itself. Largely forgotten today (it wasn't a success in syndication), The Doris Day Show was a sizeable, if critically unheralded, success in the Nielsen ratings during its five year run, and was notable for being megawatt motion picture star Doris Day's first foray into regular series TV, as well as proving to be her last acting role to date...She's a total pro in the series, but no amount of personal charm can lift a mediocre show out of the dumps. I vaguely remember catching the show when I was a kid, but it never stuck in my mind like its far better contemporary, The Mary Tyler Moore Show. Perhaps the fact that Day never really wanted to do the show -- despite her 100% professionalism once she committed to it -- seeps through the cracks and puts a vague, indefinable pall over the proceedings. - Paul Mavis
