Great little screen for the $$$ !!2/26/2010
Getting this thing up and running is a breeze. The disk provided gives you the drivers, manual setup guide and lets you know which OS's are supported! (Read the guide before using, it makes everything very easy) Once you've got this puppy running, it's really amazing how clear and bright this monitor is. The crispness at 1024x600 is quite remarkable, however, for those who would try to make it brighter, the brightness control can actually make it too bright! I use this with an Acer netbook, 'cause I cracked my screen and this was way, way, less expensive, than replacing the original screen and I didn't want to discard the Acer. I found, that one usb powers it fine. (for those who may need to plug in 2 usb's, rather than taking up another usb, you could use a plug in powered usb, be it AC, or DC in your car /w an inverter. When carrying it around, I use it mainly for GPS... and with an external drive, I can watch movies, or , if I'd like, web surf, etc...! No GPS screen even comes close to it's size and particularly its resolution! Whether I use it sitting in my ashtray, with the stand provided, (a bungee cord keeps it stable) or, using a suction cup mount on the windshield, it's a great screen size! (The suction cup is something you should be VERY CAREFUL with) I don't know how many of you have had their GPS units pop off the windshield, but I would figure out, for your vehicle, if the suction cup were to give way, how to keep your screen from falling to the floor of your car!!! Ouch!!!!!! Trust me..it's a great precaution!!!!! I use MS Streets & Trips software and with the size of this screen, it's a joy to use!! Even during daylight, the screen is very readable and I've not seen the cursor lag some have mentioned using the Atom 1.6 ghz processor, with 1 gig of ram! The stand that comes with it, with its height and tilt adjustments, is great! Lastly, I know it's a little pricey for its size and you could purchase a larger screen for about the same $$, however..... for those who want a screen, that needs no plug in power source, is small and very portable..and like me...you've got a cracked screen and this was the less expensive way for "ME" to go...I think you should give this screen a try. Cheers, VB
The product does what it says it will2/16/2010
Running windows 7, the setup went real quick and easy. I ran this on two machines, a quad core desktop, and a 9" 1.6ghz atom acer netbook. On the desktop, it flys, no stuttering, great color and played high def video no problem. As far as the netbook, well, the netbook stutters every once in a while on a high res movie anyway.. and with the monitor, its still watchable, just not 1080p video(too jittery). Its not the monitors fault, just low powered atom cpu. Also, ive noticed on the netbook the mouse lags sometimes. again, GREAT product, i recomend, and the viewing angle is excelent. Im real glad i chose this and not the 7" mimo. The stand is adjustable also. Real nice for the price. If you think its expensive, think it can also double as a digital picture frame!
Great little monitor!11/3/2009
I wrote a lengthy review on Amazon about this monitor, but here's the gist of it: 1. The 9" screen makes a big difference vs the 7" screen versions (about 65% more real estate), 2. The resolution on the DS-90U is 1024x600 which is fine for Web browsing and reading documents, particularly compared to the 800x480 you get with the 7" monitors, 3. Install was a breeze on Windows 7 (driver is available on Doublesight Website), 4. Comes with a dual USB cable, but works flawlessly off of a single USB port on my laptop, and 5. With the current rebate, this is a really great deal (bought mine a few days too early to qualify and I'm a little peeved but still loving the monitor). I highly recommend the Doublesight DS-90U to anyone who's been looking into a Mimo brand monitor.
