...aka A Fistful of Dynamite.
The results are explosive when an Irish terrorist (James Coburn) with a dynamite obsession teams up with a Mexican peasant-turned- revolutionary (Rod Steiger) in this action-packed tale of power and politics.

"A marvelous sense of detail and spectacular effects--good fun all the way.  Don Druker, Chicago Reader
"Well-plotted action...  TV Guide

Editor's Note
Sergio Leone, famous for his "spaghetti westerns," directed this humorous tale about an Irish terrorist obsessed with explosives who teams up with a down-to-earth peasant during the Mexican Revolution. A FISTFUL OF DYNAMITE (aka DUCK, YOU SUCKER) stars James Coburn and Rod Steiger.

Professional Reviews

Uncut
"[In an] inspired piece of casting....Leone took Rod Steiger and James Coburn and made them, respectively, an impassioned Mexican revolutionary and a cerebral IRA man in exile." 05/01/2005 p.142

Sight and Sound
"[T]his is Leone at his most overtly political....[With] many bravura moments..." 06/01/2005 p.82

DVD Times 9 of 10
If, in A Fistful of Dollars and For A Few Dollars More, we see a relatively inexperienced director searching for his style and gradually finding it, A Fistful of Dynamite is the work of a great director with all the style in the world who is struggling to find his film. There are wonderful things in this, Sergio Leone's fifth Western, but it's not all of a piece - actually, it's often a bit of a mess. But it's often a beautiful and inspiring mess that overflows with a love of pure cinema...Leone seems to have aimed for an even more epic sweep than he achieved in Once Upon A Time In The West. There are scenes in A Fistful of Dynamite which are extraordinary in their visual scope...A Fistful of Dynamite is a film which many feel suffers from comparisons to Leone's best work. Personally, I feel its less coherent and achieved than Once Upon A Time In The West, for example, but it's perhaps emotionally richer and more revealing of its director's personality. - Mike Sutton
