| The Boeing EA-18G Growler is a carrier-based electronic warfare aircraft based on the two-seat F/A-18F Super Hornet. It began production in 2007 and is scheduled for fleet deployment in 2009. The EA-18G will serve as the United States Navy's replacement for the EA-6B Prowler, providing a capability to detect, identify, locate, and suppress hostile emitters. The Growler will perform full-spectrum electronic surveillance and electronic attack of enemy threat radars and communications nets. It is a highly flexible design that enables the war fighter to perform a broad range of tactical missions, operating from either the deck of an aircraft carrier or land-based fields.
