Apple to Zucchini, come take a look. Start eating your way through this alphabet book. (from the first line)
One of Ehlert's best-loved books is available in a sturdy, easy-to-hold edition for the youngest readers-to-be. From the everyday apple to the exotic xiqua, colorful collages of fruits and vegetables delight toddlers as they learn their ABCUs. Full-color.
From the Publisher:
A popular alphabet storybook is presented in a sturdy, easy-to-hold board-book edition for the youngest readers and highlights vivid collage illustrations of colorful apples, blueberries, carrots, yams, and zucchini.
Annotation:
Little ones are introduced to the letters of the alphabet and a delicious list of fruits and vegetables via colorful and stylized illustrations. Apricot, artichoke, and cherry sit alongside the less commonly known kohlrabi and kumquat. A brief description of each item appears in a glossary at the end of the book.
Author Bio
Lois Ehlert
Lois Ehlert was encouraged to explore her creativity by her parents and eventually attended the Layton School of Art and the University of Wisconsin. Ehlert started illustrating books for children early in her career but, unhappy with their final production quality, she stopped and focused on graphic design work. Ehlert returned to the world of children's book illustration only after she felt that publishers had begun to pay more attention to design and production. Her book COLOR ZOO was named a Caldecott Honor Book in 1990.
