Excellent protection and runtime
After having purchasing this unit a year ago, I have nothing bad to say about it. The management interface is first rate, assuming you have a RS-232 aka 9 pin D-Sub (DB-9) connection to link it with. The software provided can automatically shutdown your system in the event of a failure (power or the 5115 itself!). The software also allows for preventative battery maintenance and constant feedback/monitoring of the unit. There is a small 40mm fan mounted to the back of the case to allow for cooling. I can't hear it when the unit is on the floor. Ease of battery replacement (I have not done it yet), it has a hot swappable one. Another important thing this unit has is AVR, which provides a pure sine wave output. It is also called buck and boost. This feature provides voltage correction up/down to compensate for poor power delivery (a must for a very stable platform). One unique feature not found on other UPS's is ABM (Automatic Battery Management). This feature claims to double the battery life; many may overlook this very important feature. The cost of replacing a battery in say a $100 "retail" UPS you are usually going to spend around $60 to $100! Yes, just for the darn battery. If you can get close to double the life, think what you just saved. IMHO, this is one great UPS. The price that I paid was slightly lower than today’s price, but still a bargain non-the less. Go ahead and get one today, you won’t be disappointed!
