Compact but flaky quality
Good: Extremely Compact for a Hub & Card Reader in one package. Comes with Power Adapter and USB 2.0 Cable. Works (see below). Bad: First off, the USB cable that came with the Hub was defective. I'm waiting to get a replacement or return for refund. Also, the Hub was dirty and scratched up - looked like it was used, though the packaging did not seem like it was opened. My Win XP PC was able to recognize the unit once I used another USB cable I had, and that got the unit to work. I almost damaged my SD card trying to insert it in, but fortunately I realized it inserts only upside down. There is nothing in the instructions about this, which by the way is very minimal. Also, the included USB Cable is only about a couple feet long. Summary: I haven't had this for long, but I've tried reads and writes to my SD Card and Memory Stick. The USB 2.0 ports all work at full speed with my USB Flash Memory Drives. I have not had the need to use the Power Adapter because all I use this for is to read/write to my Flash Memory Cards and USB Drives so far. I have not tried connecting any USB Printers, Scanners, External Optical or Hard Drives to the Hub. If I did, then the Power Adapter might come in useful. Does not heat up much (without Power Adapter) when drawing power from the USB Bus. I connect this to a port on a USB 2.0 PCI card since my motherboard does not have USB 2.0 ports onboard. If not for my dirty unit, defective cable and the real risk of damaging flash memory cards without proper instructions on how to insert them, this product could be a real winner for me.
