Each autumn, just before the onset of winter, a bear shows up in the rugged woodland behind a family farm. Author Bio
Jim Arnosky
Jim Arnosky is an author and illustrator of children's books who credits his artistic ability and training to his father--a patent draftsman. Most of Arnosky's books focus on the human relationship to the natural world, and many feature the grandfatherly character "Crinkleroot," who gently instructs readers in how to observe, appreciate, and respect nature. Realizing that many of his readers don't live in rural areas, Arnosky often writes about natural environments that thrive in or around urban areas. Arnosky has said that all of his work is autobiographical, in the sense that he cannot write about something he doesn't know from personal experience.
