An Excellent Biography of Therese of Lisieux

on 3/27/2008

A very well written and inspiring book. Whether you have already read much about Therese or this is your introduction to her, you will enjoy this book. Excerpts from her autobiography, her letters, and her last conversations are interwoven with the narrative and help the reader to understand her mind and heart. It gave me much food for spiritual reflection and the desire to grow spiritually following her "Little Way." I would recommend starting with Part Two on page 49, the story of her life, and at the end go back and read everything in the beginning of the book.

Product Overview

Thrse of Lisieux has been called the greatest saint of modern times, but some view her spirituality as sentimental and syrupy. Joseph F. Schmidt, FSC, dispels that notion by contending that Thrses little way is really the gospel messagea message that can best be understood in the context of her life. Schmidt does a masterful job of weaving together biographical details with Thrses profound insights on Gods love and mercy. This book is a must-read for anyone who wants an introduction to Thrses spirituality as well as for those who desire a deeper appreciation of her little waya way that continues to speak to Catholics today. Includes photographs of Thrse as a young girl and throughout her life.
