The 512 MB video card performs very well and the price makes it an exceptional value. I've purchased about a dozen of these and have had two that had cooling fan noise. As if a piece of paper was caught in the fan. Oddly, they corrected themselves. This card is well worth the price.

First about buy.com. I'm a regular customer buying most of my electronics here. This graphic card is for my sons Dell Dimension 5100 (2 year old model), an upgrade to original ATI X300 128M HyperMemory (only 64M on board) as a birthday present. I placed my order Friday night and expected to be shipped on Tuesday (Monday was holiday), because "Computer hardware and software usually ship the same business day if your order is placed before 4 PM Eastern Standard Time." For the card to arrive before Saturday, I paid 2-day shipping. On Thursday I called buy.com to learn 1) they have no clue when it is going to be shipped 2) they cannot change the shipping for overnight or Saturday delivery. It arrived on Monday. I'm still very dissapointed. Instalation was a breeze. Uninstall all ATI software and drivers, turn off computer, swap the cards in PCIe slot, turn on computer and install Nvidia software. Later I installed newest Nvidia driver, downloaded from EVGA web site. In contrast to all ATI drivers, this is simple and painless process. Because the card has its own cooling vent, you can hear it. That is my only complain. Most of the games now run on the highest resolution settings with incredible details. Including some of the games, that people complained about on the web for their harsh hardware requirements, like Test Drive Unlimited or Spiderman3. I would highly recommend both Nvidia and Dell to anybody. Two years ago, I paid $1000 for this Dell system: Dell Dimension 5100 Intel® Pentium® 4 Processor 531 w/HT Technology (3GHz,800FSB) Memory 512MB Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM at 400MHz (2x256M) Monitor 17 inch Ultrasharp™ 1704FPT Digital Flat Panel Video Cards 128MB PCI Express™ x16 ATI Radeon X300 SE HyperMemory Sound Card Sound Blaster® Live! 24-bit ADVANCED HD™ Hard Drives 80GB Serial ATA Hard Drive (7200RPM) CD and DVD Drive 48x CD-ROM Drive + 16x DVD+/-RW w/dbl layer write capability. Since then, RAM is upto 1.5GB ($42), additional 250GB SATA hard drive ($80) and EVGA 7300GT ($90). I think this was the last upgrade for this system. Peter

Product Overview

Mind-blowing performance, built to deliver mind-blowing graphics performance on even the most graphics intensive games, the GeForce 7 series GPUs features a nest-generation superscalar architecture and an all new NVIDIA CineFX 4.0 engine. The CineFX 4.0 engine includes a redesigned vertex shader unit that shortens the time required to set up complex geometry processing. In addition, a new pixel shader unit delivers up to 2x the floating point shading power of previous generation products, while an advanced texture unit incorporates new hardware algorithms to enhance filtering and blending operations. All of these features combine to deliver advanced visual effects at unimaginable speeds. And with support for dual-link DVI, GeForce 7 Series GPUs deliver this next level of performance at extreme HD resolutions up to 2560x1600, which makes big-screen high-definition gaming a reality. The GeForce 7 Series GPUs are designed to reach even higher levels of performance through NVIDIA SLI technology. With NVIDIA SLI, you can combine two GeForce 7 Series-based graphics cards in a single system to scale performance by up to 4x. Through an intelligent combination of software and hardware, NVIDIA SLI is able to offer this unbelievable performance on today's top PC game titles.
