... you can only get so much performance out of an AGP card. This card is inexpensive and seems well-built. But it seems no faster than the 6600GS AGP card.
5 X 5 (X 5 X 5) - Great card, even if it is AGP7/27/2007
While I understand that PCI-Express is the currently preferred transport for modern video cards, there is still something to be said for the old tried and true AGP interface. And while it is not nearly as powerful as the latest GeForce 8800 Ultras that are featured now, the 7600GS performs perfectly in all resolutions from 640X480 to 1280X1024, in both digital and analog modes. Also, it won't force you to install a bigger power supply and extra fans to support it. I was able to coax an average of 80FPS at 1280X1024 playing Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind - not a bad achievement for an AGP. I'm not a big fan of first person shooters, so I can't speak to how this card will perform playing the likes of DOOM III or FAR CRY, but I think it's perfect for RPG's, RTS's, and turn-based strategy games. I have owned the card since June 10th, and use my PC for a mixture of work and play at least 6 hours every day. I haven't had a glitch or failure yet. Installation was easy and quick, and the documentation on the installation CD is very good. I've used both Radeon video cards and nVidia - the Radeon's always seemed to have compatibility problems with one application or another. I've never encountered those kinds of problems with nVidia. All in all, a good experience that I'm still enjoying. Oh, and the rebate was nice too. Thanks, eVGA! And thanks Buy.com for the free shipping!
the EVGA 7600GS made a huge difference playing games from a 5200 I had. I didn't need to upgrade my 4 year old pc. And after some semi-difficult tweaking, I got it connected to a high def tv to watch movies. The shipping was fast, only thing worrying me is them coming thru w the rebate this time and a return on the 6200 I found out is not supported by my game.
