Bloody Merry.
| HBO presents the finale of its Emmy Award-winning comedy series written and directed by British phenomenon Ricky Gervais, founder of BBC's original The Office. Gervais reprises his Emmy-winning role as Andy Millman, the one-time extra and current sitcom star whose breakthrough show, When the Whistle Blows, remains a popular (if critically panned) part of British TV culture. Chafing from three seasons worth of recycled plotlines and catchphrases, Andy wants more than ever to break out of his TV stereotype, and is willing to do anything including maybe even pulling the plug on his hit show to do it. But does Andy have the talent and savvy it takes to get his wish: to be both respected and famous? |
"...far more observant and astute than most comedy series these days... Kevin Gilvear, DVD Times
"More than funny...brilliant comedy. Los Angeles Daily News
"Cunningly funny...mad and hilarious...roguish triumph for Gervais. The Washington Post
"...a beautiful, cathartically hilarious and wince-inducing crash of comedic genius... Tim Goodman, San Francisco Chronicle

Editor's Note
The two seasons of HBO's deadpan comedy come to a close in this sensational finale. At this point, Ricky Gervais's lowly extra, Andy Millman, has finally made some headway in the entertainment industry. Millman's sitcom, WHEN THE WHISTLE BLOWS, has been commissioned and is an outright hit. Unfortunately, the show's three seasons of predictable plotlines and critical beatings have begun to weigh on its creator. In this climax to the celebrity-studded series, Andy Millman has to make the tough decision on whether to give up all he's worked for in a bid for respectability.
