Maximum Ride is used to living desperately on the run, fleeing evil forces that sabotage her quest to save the world. But she becomes even more distraught when Angel prophesies that her best friend, Fang, will die soon. And when a newly created winged boy, the magnificent Dylan, is introduced into the flock of winged children, their world is upended yet again.
From the Publisher:
When Max and the Flock discover an unscrupulous scientist who is experimenting on humans in an effort to "improve" the human race, they decide that they must try to stop him, in spite of Angel's prediction about Fang dying.
Annotation:
Maximum Ride (a.k.a. Max) and the rest of her human-lupine flock journey to Africa in this heart-stopping addition to James Patterson's young adult series. As a teenager, Max assumed leadership of her flock. She is strong and has fought innumerable dangerous enemies, but she relies on Fang, her best friend and soul mate, for support. She could not imagine her life without him--although that is exactly what a frightening prophecy predicts. Max will do whatever it takes to protect Fang. But when a new boy enters the flock loaded with instructions to be whatever Max needs, things get complicated.
Author Bio
James Patterson
James Patterson grew up in Newburgh, New York, 50 miles north of New York City. Valedictorian of his class at the Christian Brothers school, St. Patrick's, in 1965, Patterson graduated from Manhattan College with a degree in English. He first entertained the idea of becoming a writer in 1971 when he worked as a college student in a mental institution, a job that afforded him abundant time to read. He came up with the idea for his first novel during that time, and five years later, after 26 rejection slips, his first effort, "The Thomas Berryman Number", appeared in bookstores. Since that time, Patterson has written numerous best-selling thrillers featuring the sensitive, modern-day hero Alex Cross, including "Kiss the Girls", which was made into a major motion picture starring Morgan Freeman.
