Fake Foscam Camwra12/21/2011
I received fake Foscam products from this company. They should have known better with the box being labeled as "Camwra". http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yhBx2n0lvfo I would suggest looking into a distributor that sells actual products from the company they represent.
Avoid like the plague7/14/2011
Bought 4 foscam indoor cameras (which work great) and this outdoor model. Even after tuning the camera to the fullest extent possible and checking with Foscam (bought from them directly), the outdoor image is completely whitewashed out. No viewable image. Good luck getting to anyone at Foscam. Forget the nice recording that says "your call is very important to us...hold on..." and at the third cycle, you hear "goodbye" and it disconnects. Foscam response (quote) "The washed out color is the image quality of the Foscam cameras." Hmmn. Still waiting for my RMA to return.
I had need of a wireless outdoor security camera, and from the reviews this seemed to fill the bill. Having read the drawbacks (broken English directions, no tech support, wireless difficult to configure), I held my breath and clicked the "buy" button. All the good and bad points reaised in the other reviews were spot on: to the good, the camera seems well-made and had a good picture quality, especially in this price range. To the negative side, the directions are charmingly fractured (there are separate directions for setup from a PC or a Macintosh; only the Mac directions inform you of the all-important password needed for initial login), but I was able to complete the installation right up to the point of switching from wired to wireless operation. Then - nothing. I have been unable to make the wireless communication work, which means I have a nice camera which is useless for my application. If an of you installation veterans have any suggestions, I'm all ears.
Nice series of cameras6/8/2011
I have two of the pan and tilt foscams and one of these outdoor cams. They are difficult to get going wireless, at least with my system of 3 routers. Folks with just one wireless router should be having no difficulty getting it to go. I wish the outdoor had pan and tilt but it still works great and the night vision is excellant
