Jan Brett is known not only for illustrating the books of other authors but also for writing and illustrating books of her own. She attended Colby Junior College and the Boston Museum of Fine Arts School. Brett is noted for her attention to detail and intricate borders that surround and add subtext to the main illustrations on the page.
