| A specially trained squad of guinea pigs is dispatched to stop a diabolical billionaire from taking over the world. |

Editor's Note
Two time Oscar-winning visual effects artist Hoyt Yeatman makes his feature directorial debut with this Jerry Bruckheimer-produced family film following a group of highly trained guinea pigs on their mission to prevent an evil billionaire from taking over the world. Beginning in the Civil War -- when carrier pigeons delivered messages from the front lines -- the American government has been covertly training animals to work in espionage. The latest government program is a clandestine espionage team known as "G-Force," which includes a team of ultra-intelligent guinea pigs who share 98.7 percent of their DNA with humans. Comprised of unpredictable weapons expert Blaster (voice of Tracy Morgan), alluring martial arts expert Juarez (voice of Penélope Cruz), stealthy reconnaissance expert Mooch, and a star-nosed mole named Speckles (voice of Nicolas Cage), who specializes in computers, this crack team of agents is fronted by heroic squad leader Darwin (voice of Sam Rockwell). When a deranged billionaire hatches a plan to control the entire planet through common household appliances, the G-Force leaps into action on a mission to ensure that he does not succeed.

| Cute and cuddly, warm and fuzzy. When the family film can't exploit children in some unimaginable way, animals -- preferably wise-cracking, "in yo face" beasties -- are the next best thing. From Oscar-worthy efforts like Babe to bland commercial drivel like Dr. Dolittle or Beverly Hills Chihuahua, studios regularly substitute man for his best friend, hoping to stimulate box office results. Be they animated or live action, critters definitely keep the Tinseltown money machine printing. Disney is hoping that's true with their latest attempt at anthropomorphized profit. Entitled G-Force, it's a combination live action and CG showcase that vies for edge-of-your-seat excitement. Instead, it only ends up trying one's patience....read the full review | |

| Ok, it's time to come clean on this one. G-FORCE found its way onto the big screen from Walt Disney Pictures in July 2009. The "G" in this case stands for guinea pigs. Not just any guinea pigs, but computer-generated, talking guinea pigs who were trained to be FBI Special Agents. Did I mention the mole in the group? Yes, there's a mole. And a fly with electronic surveillance capabilities literally turning him into a "fly on the wall..." This movie was meant for kids. The trailers made no bones about it when they were promoting the film for the theater and I won't deny it here either. When one of the most memorable lines in the movie is "Poop in his hand! Poop in his hand!" spoken in unison by a group of not-so-bright mice in a pet store, it leaves little room for doubt....read the full review | |
