Plot Summary
"Famous Authors" examines the men and women behind the words that brought them literary kudos.| In "George Orwell," viewers learn that the English novelist and nonfiction author was born in India, fought in the Spanish Civil War, and served in the British Imperial Police in Burma. Orwell's military experiences subsequently instilled in him a contempt for totalitarianism, which formed the basis of many of his works. "Animal Farm," for example, is an allegory about the brutality of the Bolshevik Revolution.| Ironically, Orwell's writings have since been embraced by conservatives because of his pronounced distrust of intellectuals and by liberals due to his disdain for abuses in authority.
