G.I. Joe is a highly trained, classified Special Operations Unit composed of men and women from around the globe. Officially, these warriors don't even exist. Few know the truth -- that G.I. Director Stephen Sommers (The Mummy, Van Helsing) adapts the beloved Hasbro G.I. Joe toy line with this Paramount Pictures production that pits the Global Integrated Joint Operating Entity against the evil forces of the organization known as COBRA. Dennis Quaid and Channing Tatum star as General Hawk and Duke Hauser, respectively, with Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Marlon Wayans leading the rest of the cast, including Sienna Miller, Ray Park, Rachel Nichols, Christopher Eccleston, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, Said Taghmaoui, and Asian film star Lee Byung-hu.

Alan Silvestri, who is the modern master of scoring action blockbusters like Predator, The Mummy Returns and Night At The Museum, not to mention the Back To The Future trilogy, composes the apocalyptic score.

Muze PNote Veteran film composer Alan Silvestri (Back to the Future, Forrest Gump, The Abyss) lent his considerable chops to director Stephen Sommers' live action rendering of popular '80s cartoon G.I. Joe, taking a cue from his work on campy action films like Delta Force, The Mummy, and Predator. Silvestri breaks little ground on G.I Joe, employing enough "orchestral bombast peppered with military marches" to give Michael Bay-puppet Hans Zimmer a run for his money, but if 70 minutes of dependable, by-the-book action music (imagine watching the opening titles for the A-Team for an hour-and-a-half) is the tonic that gets your blood pumping, then G.I. Joe: Rise of Cobra will definitely put hair on (or back on) your chest. ~ James Christopher Monger
