"If you are a fan of Gilligan's Island, this set is a no-brainer. Joel Pearce, DVD Verdict
"...the show offers immensely likable characters in broadly funny situations that are, in the end, timeless. Stuart Galbraith, IV, DVD Talk
Editor's NoteThe world of GILLIGAN'S ISLAND saw a group of castaways stranded on a desert island, left there after a boat trip got caught in a storm. Each episode saw the eclectic group of castaways attempt an escape from the island, but were frequently foiled by infighting, and bitter recriminations breaking out between the crew. The entire second season is included here.

Customer Reviews of Gilligans Island-Complete 2nd Season
These shows are classics! I loved to watch Giligan's Island as a child growing up in the 70's. Now my children are enjoying the episodes and are laughing at the same funny, clean humor I did growing up. My husband and I are enjoying watching each episode with them. We have seasons 1 and 2 and the kids are now begging me to buy season 3!
Great DVD Set6/22/2007
The episodes looked very good, but not excellent (perhaps not digitally restored yet?).

Season 2 was a really good one for the Gilligan fans. There were several memorable episodes including:

#37 - Gilligan's Mother-in-law: First episode filmed in color. Jim Backus' wife, Henny, plays the stubborn mother of a native girl.

#38 - Beauty Is As Beauty Does: What can I say, Mary Ann & Ginger trying to win a beauty contest - WOO HOO!

#39 - The Little Dictator: One of the dream sequence episodes. Gilligan dreams that he's a dictator. This is Sherwood Schwartz' s favorite episode.

#41 - The Sweepstakes: Another dream sequence. Mr. Howell dreams he's an grizzled old Magoo-like prospector who persists in alerting people "I haven't had a bath in forty years!" and receives a persistent response of "I know". Note: This episode made use of the "Gunsmoke" set and was Jim Backus' favorite episode.

#43 - Castaways Pictures Presents: One of the most popular of all episodes because of its sheer ridiculousness. After discovering crates, filled with costumes, film cameras, make-up, etc., in the hull of a sunken ship at the bottom of the lagoon, Mr. Howell directs a silent epic explaining the Castaways' plight. They set the film adrift in hopes that it will save them; however, when it's found, the film is heralded as a possible lost work of Ingmar Bergman and given first place at the Cannes Film Festival.

#46 - Hi-Fi Gilligan: When Skipper accidentally knocks Gilligan in the face with a crate, Gilligan becomes a human radio receiver.

#48 - Don't Bug the Mosquitoes: Many viewers consider this episode one of the best. A rock group called the Mosquitoes lands on the island hoping for a little R&R, but the Castaways beg them to leave and take them back to civilization. When they won't, the men and women form two singing groups, hoping to encourage the Mosquitoes to leave early. The plan backfires when the group becomes intimidated by the ladies' group The Honeybees and leaves the island.

#51 - Erika Tiffany Smith to the Rescue: Guest starring Zsa Zsa Gabor

#54 - The Postman Cometh: Another dream sequence. Mary Ann thinks, incorrectly based upon an overheard conversation, she's dying from mushrooms she's eaten. Mary Ann dreams she's in a wacky hospital, where the Professor does his best Cary Grant impression, diagnosing Mary Ann with 'roomus degloomus'.

#55 - Seer Gilligan: Gilligan can read minds thanks to some seeds he discovered on the island. All the Castaways eat the seeds and read each other's thoughts, which results in disaster as honesty takes over.

#65 - The Friendly Physician: Crazed scientist Dr. Boris Balinkoff arrives on the island and takes the Castaways back to his laboratory on another island. There he experiments by switching the minds of one person with another. I particularly love that Igor was put into Ginger's body, to which he comments "Feels Good!". Note: This is the only episode in which the Castaways leave the island, but they return in a boat, which sinks in the lagoon before they're able to leave for Hawaii.

#66 - "V" For Vitamins: Another Dream Sequence episode. Gilligan dreams he is Jack from "Jack and the Beanstalk", scaling the vine up to the giant's castle. Note: Bob's son Patrick plays little Gilligan in the dream sequence.

#68 - Meet the Meteor: Another Dream Sequence episode. Gilligan dreams the Castaways are old and doddering when they celebrate their 50th anniversary on the island with a big party.

There are many other great episodes in this set as well. The commentary on The Little Dictator by Sherwood Schwartz is very cool, as well as the season introduction by Russell Johnson and Sherwood Schwartz.

The English captioning is also excellent as there were many times I really didn't know what someone might have said, but the captions made it perfectly clear.

An excellent product at an excellent price! Thanks Buy.Com!
The show is great, love ol' Gilligan and the Skipper too.
