Author Bio
Frank Asch
Author and illustrator Frank Asch is best known for his series of picture books about the character Bear such as HAPPY BIRTHDAY MOON, BEAR SHADOW, and GOODBYE HOUSE. In addition to these picture books, Asch also writes nonfiction, poetry, concept books, and novels for children. Asch was initially inspired to become an artist when one of his elementary school teachers gave him his very first "one man show" in the school's art room. By the time he was a high school student, Asch was writing stories to accompany his artwork. Asch's first children's book, GEORGE'S STORE, was published in 1968--the year before he graduated from Cooper Union where he earned a B.F.A.
