What's a little boy to do when a goose and a duck think that he's their mother? Newbery Medal winner George's comic story and Lamont's lively art make for a silly tale about boys, geese, ducks, and the rhythms of nature. Full color.
From the Publisher:

Whatever I did, Goose did.
Whatever Goose did, Duck did.
When I sat down, Goose sat down.
Duck sat down too.

What's a little boy to do when a goose and a duck think that he's their mother? Especially when they follow him around, doing everything he does!

Newbery Medal winner Jean Craighead George's comic story and Priscilla Lamont's lively art make for a silly tale about boys, geese, ducks, and the rhythms of nature.

Annotation:
In this charming early reader by the illustrious Jean Craighead George, a little boy raises a goose and a duck as his own. The goose looks to him as a mother, and the duck looks to the goose for everything as the trio spends time together. With cheerful illustrations.
Author Bio
Jean Craighead George
Born into a family of naturalists, Jean Craighead George has said that her writing, which often focuses on environmental themes, continues the "family business." She graduated from Penn State University in 1941 and then worked as a member of the White House Press corps and as a reporter for "The Washington Post." Her first book, VULPES THE RED FOX (1948), was written in conjunction with her then-husband, John George. The couple had three children together, but divorced in 1964. Her first novel for children, MY SIDE OF THE MOUNTAIN, was published in 1959 and was named a Newbery Honor Book. JULIE OF THE WOLVES received the 1973 Newbery Medal. Jean Craighead George has proudly claimed to have kept over 173 pets--not counting cats and dogs. Many of the animals that she cared for have become characters in her books.

Praise

"Youngsters, especially nature-lovers, looking for a quick, pleasant read will find what they need here, while their adults may get a bit choked up at the reminder that all too soon their own young will leave the nest." 2/1/2008
