What are Rakuten Super Points™?
A true-life spy story of ultimate suspense. High speed and inconceivable bravery!
|On April 22, 1862, a party of 22 Union spies stole a train from right under the noses of 4,000 Confederate troops near Atlanta, Georgia, and began a race that might have brought an early end to the Civil War had it succeeded. Intrepid Confederates led by the train's conductor, William A. Fuller, commandeered rolling stock for the chase, and persevered long enough to recapture the train. Union leader James J. Andrews and many of his men were hung in the South, but those who survived and made their way home were awarded Congressional Medals of Honor.|
Editor's NoteA colorful Walt Disney production based on the true Civil War story of Andrews' Raiders, who captured a Confederate railroad train during the Civil War and were then pursued by another Confederate locomotive. When Andrews, a Union spy, leads a team of soldiers into the South to demolish the railway system, things don't go as planned. The train conductor catches on to the plan, and does everything he can to stop them! Buster Keaton featured the same story in The General.
